Learning Experiences

We learn so much from simply living! Just this year we have experienced so much!

We visited Queensland and it’s wildlife sanctuary there. We made our own Mud pie kitchen, and our first hot cross buns. We often visit our family (in-laws) on their riverfront country cottage now only 15 minutes away.

We walked our local Wetlands, went to Forest playgroups, and to the Snow. For the first time, my girls visited the Healesville Sanctuary & St Andrews Market. We had a family trip to Sovereign Hill and Road trip home through Daylesford.

We had a family forest and falls walk, went rock climbing, discovered new adventure playgrounds, visited the Circus & went to homeschool group at the Museum.

This blog will be used to dive deep into the learning of our experiences. All of the experiences we’ve had this year so far, have taught us ALL so much. We’ve discovered Australian history, Geography, Flora and fauna, bird watching at the wetlands as well as Snake and frog species.

This is all just in the act of living! Our garden teaches us almost daily, as we play outside learning about compatibility planting, because we just want our food to grow well. This is when learning sticks! When it’s relevant and important! Not when a test is coming up. That is rote learning and it’s temporary!

Going to the snow, we learned some of the history of Mt Buller itself and of skiing in the Olympics.

Ella and I have made a few fairy houses now and have discovered many different techniques and materials that you can use in creating some lovely fairy houses! Ella has even tried her hand at sewing now and loves making doll’s clothes! We are always talking measurements when we do sewing or cooking. Ella loves to bake and can tell you all the ingredients in many recipes we make!

This is all the goodness we get from our experience! Education is not separate from life…it is very much a part of it! That is what I’m so excited about demonstrating as I continue to blog. So stay tuned for more examples of learning through simply living!
